Reaction from Jon Barnett, Racecourse Director

Jon Barnett, Goodwood Racecourse’s Director, said: “We are delighted with how the 2022 Qatar Goodwood Festival has gone. The atmosphere on course has been fabulous throughout with a real buzz, endorsed by the phenomenal racing. The Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup and Qatar Sussex Stakes were world-class renewals to kick-start the five-day festival. In addition, a wealth of international runners saw Japan, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Norway all represented, which is encouraging to see.

“We were blessed with wonderful weather, and the true ‘Glorious Goodwood’ experience shone through. Attendance for the week has reached 2019 levels, which was a fantastic year for us, with strong sales on food and beverage.

“Finally, we must extend our sincere thanks to the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, our title sponsor. Without their support alongside our other official partners, including Coral, this would not be possible.

“We now look forward to our August Bank Holiday racing fixture (Friday 26 – Sunday 28 August), which features a Friday evening of fireworks before a weekend of family fun to complement the high-quality racing.”
